Hetherington Newman is committed to environmental and ethical initiatives and the company ensures that all the timber it uses is from properly managed and fully sustainable sources which are backed up by independent auditing schemes such as the PEFC (Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification) and the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Chain of Custody Certificate.

Wood shavings are collected and supplied to local farms for use as animal bedding, and finally end up as compost. Offcuts of timber are used to heat the workshop and reduce our use of fossil fuels. We use water-based, environmentally friendly paints and lacquers as far as possible.
